In a noble contribution to boosting the university’s digital competence, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has commissioned a state-of-the-art Digital Learning Centre at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu.
The facility is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative of the Federal Government facilitated by the First Lady under the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and one of the 10 centres simultaneously unveiled on Thursday across the country. It was commissioned virtually by Senator Tinubu in Abuja.
First Lady of Lagos State, Her Excellency, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu commissioned the Lagos centre domiciled in LASUSTECH, Ikorodu physically.

In her virtual inauguration address, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu stated that the facility is designed to promote digital literacy, foster innovation, and equip young Nigerians with essential technological skills for the future.
Dr. (Mrs.) Sanwo-Olu, speaking at the commissioning in LASUSTECH, described the initiative as a transformative step towards bridging the digital divide. She encouraged students to use the centre responsibly and take full advantage of the opportunities it offers to learn, explore, and innovate.
The Vice-Chancellor of LASUSTECH, Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya, expressed profound appreciation to the First Lady, the Renewed Hope Initiative and NITDA for their strategic investment in the university’s future.

He noted that the Digital Learning Centre aligns with LASUSTECH’s mission to nurture innovation and provide students with relevant digital competencies for the modern workplace.
The Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Akibu Sule, Permanent Secretary, Mr.Waheed Kasali, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi , the Ranodu of Imota, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Agoro, the Alagura of Agura, Oba Moruf Ahmed Olalekan Ogunnaike and traditional chiefs from all over Ikorodu, were present at the event to underscore the significance of the initiative to the local communities and the broader educational landscape.
